The Boston Bruins under coach Marco Sturm have stopped their losing streak in the NHL. In the 3:2 (2:1, 1:0, 0:1) win against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday in Boston, Sturm’s team left the ice as winners for the first time after six defeats in a row.

Colorado took an early lead through Artturi Lehkonen (5th), but the Bruins responded with a double strike: Viktor Arvidsson (15th) and Michael Eyssimont (15th) turned the game around within 39 seconds. Shortly before the second break, Morgan Geekie (40th) increased the lead to 3-1 with his sixth goal of the season. Lehkonen’s second goal (60th) came too late for the guests.

It was Boston’s first win since a 3-1 win against the Buffalo Sabers on October 11th. After the three wins at the start of the season, many were still surprised at how quickly new coach Sturm had gotten the problems at the traditional club from the Original Six era under control. But in six defeats with 28 goals conceded, Boston had lost a lot of defensive stability.
