‘Nobody is helped with reversed burden of proof if IMG is involved’

Legal presumption of evidence

In the case of gas extraction, the legal presumption of proof (also referred to as the reversed burden of proof) means that the victims themselves do not have to prove that the damage was caused by that gas extraction/storage. In large parts of Groningen, the legal presumption of proof applies. If there is damage, the victim can report this without having to prove this himself. It is then up to NAM to refute that the damage is caused by gas storage or gas extraction.

In North Drenthe, this legal presumption of evidence still partially applies, but the contours have been shifted by the IMG. As a result, many victims are left out. The local and regional administrators in Drenthe hope that the minister will urge the IMG to return the legal presumption of evidence in North Drenthe.
