No words for: Medea, theater without text or music, premiered in Tielt

Medea is a horrific Greek tragedy. Actress Tania Van der Sanden plays Medea, the mother who killed her 2 children. Director Piet Arfeuille did give the story a special twist, and omitted all text or music in the piece.

Arfeuille is well aware that this is not always easy for the viewer. “Sometimes that requires something, both from us and from the viewer,” he says. “But I think that if you surrender to it, you experience quite a lot. You should not wait for the story and text. You should actually let the images sink in.” Indeed, the viewer did. “A play without words, but so telling and much more intense”, as one of the spectators put it.

In February and March, Medea also plays in Bruges, Waregem, Roeselare and Ostend.
