No trains in the entire province on Friday due to strike

There are no trains in our province on Friday either. This was the result of a strike by NS employees in the north-west and west of the Netherlands. The NS announced on Wednesday that no trains will be running throughout the country.

The railway company does not see a way to set up a timetable in a safe way, because many trains run through several regions every day. Company say to find this ‘extremely annoying’ for travelers.

The same happened last week when NS staff in the Utrecht region went on strike. Even then there were no NS trains running anywhere.

Talking about new collective labor agreement
The trade unions FNV, VVMC and CNV have therefore planned strikes on Friday in the west and north-west regions, which largely include the Randstad. They promised on Wednesday to discuss a new collective labor agreement with the NS again, but did not want to suspend the actions.

In addition to Friday’s actions, the unions previously announced actions in the east, south and north regions. These are scheduled for September 13. Even then, there are no trains in our province. On Thursday 15 September it will be the turn of the region in the middle.
