There are no trains between Den Bosch and Utrecht. This is due to the discovery of a suitcase left behind at Utrecht Central Station. This is being investigated by the Explosive Exploration Team.
The police are investigating the suitcase and have decided that it is not possible to stop on a large number of platforms for safety reasons. Utrecht station has therefore been evacuated as a precaution.
According to a spokeswoman for the NS, this situation will lead to a serious disruption of train traffic in a large part of the Netherlands, because Utrecht is an important junction. “It may be that trains that were on their way continue to the next station. Or they stop one station earlier, or turn around,” says the spokeswoman.
She couldn’t say how long the investigation will take. It is also unclear how long train traffic will remain blocked.
