Kitschkrieg and Shirin David also delight US fans with “Gut Enough”. Why the German-language song hits TikTok and YouTube in America.
Kitschkrieg goes viral in the USA with Shirin David and Blumengarten. Your song “Gut Enug” doesn’t just seem to be well received by German-speaking audiences.
Postponed release
After the song was initially scheduled to be released on January 29th, the release was postponed. The reason for this was an internal “processing and discussion of a current topic” in the band Blumengarten. Kitschkrieg supported this decision and withheld her single. What exactly this “current issue” was remained unclear. About a month later, Blumengarten singer Rayan commented on his ex-girlfriend’s allegations about song lyrics about their relationship in an Instagram post. Fans had to be patient: after the teaser video in January, the full song was released on May 22nd.
Impact in America
“Gut Enough” not only meets enthusiastic ears in Germany. English-language comments pile up under the song’s YouTube video, including: “I don’t know what he said but I feel what he said – American guy here”. Kitschkrieg then posted a snippet of the song with this same quote on TikTok. There were also repeated story reposts of the song from American Instagram accounts, titled “Germans finally releasing bangers” or “Why this go so hard tho”. Shortly afterwards, the American creator Django Degree published a translation of the German lyrics – so that American fans could also understand which lyrics they were singing along to.
Gaining a foothold on foreign soil
The kitsch war sound also reaches the other side of the Atlantic. The two albums “German Engineering” 1 and 2 were already in demand internationally. They were created in collaboration with English-speaking guests from the UK and USA – a first attempt to gain a foothold in other countries. With the success of their new single, they are pressing their footprint even more firmly on American soil. They show: You don’t necessarily have to write in English to convince the US audience. It will soon become clear whether the rest of the record will develop just as international impact: “Kitschkrieg Zwei” will be released on June 5th with further features from German artists such as Jolle and Ennio.
