Due to a collision between a train and a horse trailer at a level crossing near Boxtel, no trains will run on the Boxtel-Tilburg route until at least eight in the morning. Railway manager ProRail says that the damage to the track is so extensive that there will be disruption for days afterwards. It is unclear when the trains will be able to run on the route again according to the normal timetable.
Hundreds of sleepers on the track near the Boxtel district of Tongeren have been damaged, ProRail reports to Omroep Brabant. “They will all have to be repaired. We will work on this tonight, but it will take us longer to repair everything,” a spokesperson said.
On Friday morning, ProRail hopes to have more clarity about when the normal timetable can be resumed. “In the short term, train traffic will in any case experience a lot of disruption on the route. It will probably take days before the trains on the route can run normally again.”
