No hospital strike in Zoetermeer, but they do strike at these hospitals

Why are hospital staff on strike?

Hospital staff say wages need to be raised. The demand: a wage increase of 10 percent for one year and an extra 100 euros gross per month. The activists say that the wage increase is not a luxury, but a necessity. They see the increase as an inflation correction.

Fewer fees

Elise Merlijn of FNV says about the strike: “The hospital employees are ready for the patient day and night. The least you can expect is that the employer is also ready for his employees. But the employees can whistle for purchasing power retention. No, the employer wants to reduce the reimbursements that hospital employees receive.”

‘Requirement not possible’

According to the employers’ organization NVZ, the wage increase demanded by the demonstrators is not possible. The organization says there is “a reasonable proposal” of a 13 percent increase spread over two years. In total, more than 200,000 employees are covered by the collective labor agreement. And if the employers do not agree to a wage increase, an extra day of strike may be added.
