No final spot for snowboarder Niek van der Velden | Olympics

For Van der Velden (21) it was already a revenge that he was healthy and well at the top of the track on the Great Wall of China before his departure. Four years ago, he broke his right arm in final practice before his Olympic adventure, which forced him to fail.

Now he was allowed to go down at least twice, but his scores with 26.51 and 46.03 were not nearly enough to qualify for a place in the first twelve.

Earlier this week, the young snowboarder indicated that he had good hopes of a chance in the final battle. “If I look at how my level has developed in recent years, I think I certainly have it in me to show something that is final-worthy,” said Van der Velden, who would have liked to take revenge for four years ago. . He would make his Olympic debut in Pyeongchang. Van der Velden, however, fell during the last training session before the game and broke his arm. The snowboarder was in the spotlight for some time because he was the youngest of the 33 Dutch participants and would be the first of everyone to take action.

Van der Velden will have another chance in the Big Air section later in this tournament.
