With controversial statements at the end of the pre -season in the NFL, Tyreek Hill had basically publicly concluded with the Miami Dolphins. Now, according to the quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, he has to develop the trust of colleagues again.
In the 2024 season, Tyreek Hill missed the playoffs for the first time in his career. After this was clear, the wide receiver let his frustration run free and said to reporters after the last game of the season in January: “This is the first time that I am not in the playoffs. I just have to do what the best for me and my family. If this is the case here or wherever, I will open this door. I’m open the door. I’m out, brother.”
Since then, Hill has been rowing and General Manager Chris Grier confirmed that Hill had never officially asked for a trade. But apparently his words were not particularly well received by his teammates. At least that was explained by Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa at the start of the training camp.
“This is not only the case with me, it is the case with many boys. I’m not the only one who heard it. You are not the only ones who heard it,” said Tagovailoa. “Many people who follow football who follow the Miami Dolphin, the Tyreek are followed, the fans are of his – everyone saw it. So if you say something like that, you don’t just get it with a ‘hey, my mistake’. You have to rebuild this relationship; you have to rebuild everything again.”

Tua sees progress at Hill
Tagovailoa, however, saw progress at Hill: “He works on himself; he works on things that he says that he will get better and want to make it better. That is the first step for me, and I praise him for that.”
In 2024, the Dolphins had their worst season (8-9) under Head Coach Mike McDaniel and their worst record since 2019 (5-11). One reason for this was certainly also injuries. While Tagovailoa missed six games, Hill played with a stubborn hand injury for some time. The bottom line was that in its worst season since 2019, as far as Receptions (81) and Yards (959) concerns. Page six touchdowns were even the chiefs at least since his 2016 rookie season.
