Three English brothers eager for the extraordinary join the foreign legion, that myth that has only survived as such in the cinema (largely thanks to this film).
At desert, in the middle of the thirst and the hardships, they also have a sadistic boss. And, of course, to the Bedouins to the assault, culminating in epic confrontations and various sacrifices.
When you see this film these days, you wonder how it was made. Not only because political correctness would annihilate many things (for no reason, let’s add) but because everything looks real and yet the protagonists do not stop showing their aura of true stars.
The action is fast-paced, the drama is mythical (the ultimate defense of the outpost is in the memory of cinephiles) and dramatic tension it never declines. It goes “to the steaks” without explaining too much: product of a time when there was still faith in fiction and its deep truths.
