In other places in the country it was even milder than in De Bilt. It became 13 degrees in Arcen and Ell. That is only 0.1 degrees apart from the national record from 2007 when 13.1 degrees was measured in Gilze-Rijen and Woensdrecht at the turn of the year.
The weather remained calm. Here and there it was cloudy or misty, but there was not much fog and it was dry all over the country. The coldest turn of the year was on Terschelling, but there too it was much milder than average at 7.5 degrees.
Possible new heat record
The mild weather is not over yet. On Saturday, according to Weer.nl, temperatures will rise again to almost spring-like values. In the south it can reach 15 degrees locally and heat records can be broken again.
