Zoetermeer residents who depend on public transport may be in trouble this week. The employees of the regional transport are on strike again, this time on Wednesday 22 February and Friday 24 February.

Due to the strike, your trip to Delft or Leiden may not go as planned. The bus connections may be interrupted due to the strike. Not only employees of EBS, Arriva and Connexxion are participating in the strike, but also those of other carriers such as Keolis, Qbuzz, Bravo, Hermes, Breng, Overal and OV region IJsselmond.
Strike at the end of February
The actions on Wednesday and Friday are “the first of a new series of strikes”, the unions said. Travelers from Zoetermeer will have to pay close attention in the coming period to see whether the buses are running. If there are new strikes, they will be announced at least 48 hours in advance, the unions report.
Good to know: the trams of HTM (RandstadRail) and the RET (metro), and the trains of NS do run normally. This is because the employees fall under a different collective labor agreement. So they are not participating in the strike.
Why the bus drivers are on strike
The activists are on strike for two days to enforce a better collective labor agreement. According to them, the workload is too high and the wages are too low. It’s not the first time they’ve done this; there have been several strikes in recent times. Fortunately, there are several options for traveling by public transport in Zoetermeer!
