Special Primary School (BBS) The wonder will receive a new temporary home in the Norg motion center. From 1 August, the educational institution will be a school funded by the State, which means that from then on the municipality of Noordenveld is responsible for housing.
Earlier, the wonder, which as a special school offers a different form of education than regular primary schools, did not fall under municipal responsibility. She was a so -called state -free school and therefore not bound by the requirements of the inspection, says Tiny de Jong of the municipality of Noordenveld. “Because she is now funded by the state, she must also meet the quality requirements.”
This concerns, for example, things such as safety, the size of the classes and the outdoor space. Because the wonder first fell outside the inspection requirements, she was able to house at the current location on the Prince Willem Alexanderhoeve in Alteveer. The BBS would like to stay there, but the place does not meet the requested quality requirements.
A healthy and safe building is very important for the municipality. “We believe that we offer suitable housing with the Movement Center on Eenerstraat, certainly also because of the green location of the building,” says alderman Kirsten Ipema about the new location.
Although it is currently not yet the quality requirements for housing, it is being worked on. “We make it that way so that it is satisfactory,” says De Jong. “But something has to be done about it.”
For example, the building and the site must still be made suitable for teaching. Currently there is enough space for the forty students who start in the 2025/2026 school year. In addition, there is still room to grow, something that the wonder wants in the coming years.
The fact that it is a temporary new accommodation is due to the status that the Ministry of Education has given to the wonder. She is currently a ‘temporarily funded school’. First it must appear that the educational institution continues to meet the requirements and it must also go through intended growth in the coming years.
This means that the school must have a number of students within four years, half of the required foundation standard. Within eight years, that number must be on two hundred students.
As soon as it becomes clear that the wonder meets those requirements, the temporary funding can be converted into a definitive one. The municipality will then look for a suitable final housing together with the school board.
Local residents will soon be invited by the municipality for a walk -in meeting.
