New owner Expo Assen is thinking of a go-kart track or padel complex

Expo Assen has a new owner: Lenferink Groep Zwolle. The real estate company wants to breathe new life into the hall and is thinking of, for example, a go-kart track or a padel complex.

“And possibly experiences that tie in with motorsports, motorsports and other leisure activities,” adds Emiel Brink of Lenferink Groep Zwolle. He says that ‘leisure content’ is the most promising for the event location in Assen.

Refugees are currently being accommodated in the Expo Assen. The first 150 refugees arrived in November. They were initially supposed to be taken care of for three weeks, but that has now been extended.

Closure

Libéma is the current owner of Expo Assen, but he wanted to sell the hall next to the TT Circuit in Assen. Libéma previously announced that it would close the exhibition hall in 2023. There is not much demand for large events, so the location of the event hall was described by Libéma as a difficult place. The closure of the IJsselhallen in Zwolle also played a part in the decision. A lot was organized for the Expo from Zwolle. The closure would directly and indirectly affect about fifty jobs.
