NATO can strengthen its presence in the east

The risk of an armed conflict in Europe exists, and therefore, in the current conditions, it is important to establish a dialogue with all interested parties, said Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference following the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council January 12 in Brussels.

The secretary general also warned that the alliance could strengthen its presence on the territory of the allied countries in the east in the event of an escalation of the situation in Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that NATO security guarantees “one for all and all for one”, provided for the Allies, regarding Ukraine does not work.

Stoltenberg assured that the North Atlantic Alliance is always ready for a meaningful dialogue with Russia, and since security issues need to be considered together.

The bloc is also ready to discuss with Moscow all types of arms control, in particular, mutual limitation of missiles and the issue of nuclear policy.

“NATO made it clear at the meeting that we are ready for a series of meetings on a wide range of issues, including missiles and mutual controllable missile restrictions, in Europe,” Stoltenberg said. RIA News
