According to the weather bureau, it was a very average heat wave and there were no extreme temperatures. However, the number of five tropical days with temperatures of more than 30 degrees was higher than average.
It was the thirtieth heat wave in De Bilt since the measurements began in 1901. It is striking that sixteen of these were measured in the last century and now fourteen in this century. In Arcen, Limburg, 26 heat waves have already been measured this century. So far this century there has been only one heat wave on Vlieland and Terschelling.
Although the heat wave in De Bilt is over, there is still a regional heat wave. For example, the regional heat wave in the east will continue for a while and the question is when it will end. On Wednesday it became 25 degrees or more in Hupsel in De Achterhoek and in Enschede in Twente, and it will also be warm again on Thursday. In the east, the mercury can then rise to 26 to 27 degrees and in the weekend it can reach around 25 degrees along the German border.
