National four-day strike for regional transport temporarily off the track, but train strike in the north continues

A four-day nationwide strike in regional transport has been called off for the time being. FNV had given employers in regional transport an ultimatum until Sunday to respond to the union’s demands for a new collective labor agreement. “But we have now agreed to continue talking with employers,” says a spokesman for the union.

He emphasizes that the strike days linked to the ultimatum have been suspended, not adjusted. “If employers’ proposals are again insufficient, we will strike for four days in January instead of December,” said the spokesman.

Other collective agreement

This concerns a different collective labor agreement in regional transport than the one that applies to around 1300 employees of companies such as Qbuzz, Arriva and Keolis. Unions are also in conflict with employers about this collective labor agreement. For these conductors, train drivers and bus drivers, the unions demand that wages automatically increase in line with inflation, which is now very high.

‘Train strike continues’

The previously announced strike by employees of regional trains in the north of the Netherlands will therefore continue, according to FNV, after a collective bargaining agreement has broken down. Next Thursday there will be a strike on the regional railway in Friesland. The regional track in the province of Groningen will follow on Friday and the regional track in South-East Drenthe on Monday. In all cases, the announced strikes relate to Arriva trains.
