Naftogaz complained that Germany would benefit from the launch of Nord Stream 2

Germany will receive economic benefits after launch Nord Stream 2, as it will become the main distributor of Russian gas in Europe, said the head of Naftogaz Ukrainy, Yuriy Vitrenko, in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.

However, Germany cannot receive short-term economic advantages at the expense of other European countries, Vitrenko complained.

As for Russia, it will not allow the cessation of gas supplies to Europe.

Europe will survive without Russian gas, even if it will have a heavy impact on European consumers, says Vitrenko.

According to him, Russia fulfills its obligations on gas supplies, even if it does not sell gas on the European spot market.

Meanwhile, Ukraine may increase gas transit to cover Germany’s needs. The gas transmission network (GTS) of Ukraine is only 25% loaded, Vitrenko said.

If enterprises have a chance to buy gas on the Russian-Ukrainian border, then Ukraine will offer better conditions for gas supplies to Europe, the head of Naftogaz Ukrainy concluded.
