Uproar in the Flemish parliament, after a striking intervention by Stefaan Sintobin (Vlaams Belang): he shouted “absolutely right” when Open VLD MP Stephanie D’Hose read out a student’s testimony. He regretted that biology teachers never pay attention in their lessons to the way in which lesbian or gay couples can have children. D’Hose spoke afterwards of “a shame” and said that her “stomach turned” at Sintobin’s statement. Sintobin himself denies to the Belga news agency that it is a “homophobic” statement.
