Munich fights for the CHL final in just one game

After the corona outbreak at EHC Red Bull Munich, the semi-finals in the Champions League against Tappara Tampere from Finland will be played in just one game.

As the three-time German ice hockey champion announced, the Covid-19 committee of the premier class decided this after consultation with the two clubs. The knockout game will take place on January 25th in Tampere.

In the second semi-final, after two games, Rögle BK from Ängelholm prevailed against the Swedish compatriots from Frölunda HC. Independent of the duel between Munich and Tampere, the final scheduled for March 1st will also take place in Ängelholm.

Several Munich players had tested positive for the corona virus in the past week. There were also several infections with the Omikron variant. The state capital’s health department then issued an isolation for all professionals who tested positive and a quarantine for the entire team.

As a result, the semi-finals scheduled for January 4th and 11th have been canceled.
