MPK decision: Bundesliga ghost games are back

After the last part of the Bundesliga games without fans, the ministers decided to apply a nationwide approach again. And that says: The stadiums will remain empty everywhere again.

The ghost games in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga are returning. This decision was made on Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s Conference (MPK). In the draft resolution it was already stated in the wording: “Supraregional sports, cultural and comparable major events will take place without spectators from December 28, 2021 at the latest.” This has now been put into practice. The Bundesliga starts the second half of the season on January 7th, the 2nd division resumes on January 14th.

According to the decision of the last federal-state summit at the beginning of December, stadiums were allowed to be used to a maximum of 50 percent, but no more than 15,000 spectators. In some federal states such as Bavaria and Saxony, however, ghost games had already been ordered. Now the fan ban applies again to the whole of Germany.
