According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), a 40-year-old woman from Beilen has robbed almost her sleeping husband of life in a drunken mood by putting him with a knife several times. For attempted manslaughter, 40 months in prison were demanded against the Beilense.
The man woke up on the night of 25 to 26 October, bathed in the blood. His wife is sleeping deeply at that time, next to him in bed. The man stumbled to the bathroom and called in the help of his minor stepdaughter. The girl in turn calls her older step sister, who drives to her father’s home. When she sees her wounded father, she calls the emergency services.
The sleeping woman had since woken up and tried to stop the bleeding. Nobody could tell the ambulance staff and the police what happened. The man and woman had billiards that evening. They got into a fight and the man left home. The woman went to a snack bar. She was unable to pay her account on departure. She was too drunk for that.
A visitor to the Eetcafé brought the woman home. A neighbor left her dog out. She saw that the woman was brought home to the door. Her daughter let her in. According to the public prosecutor, there are no traces of a third person who was involved in the stab incident. According to him, everything indicates that the woman has put under the influence. She was dissatisfied with her relationship, according to her phone details.
She applied with others about her husband’s alcohol consumption. And that in addition to her work she only turned for the entire household. She would also have complained about this against the visitor in the eatery. There were two bloody knives with her DNA in the dishwasher. And fibers stuck from the comforter on one of the knives. The wounded man had two superficial stab wounds in his neck and chest. There was a deep stab wound in his back.
The man had a blow, broken rib and blood behind his lungs. To this day, he cannot comprehend that his wife has injured him heavily. He made a fiery plea for his wife against court. He asked to take her circumstances into account. The necessary was pronounced and the relationship has therefore improved considerably. The prosecutor finds the case too serious not to demand a long prison sentence.
The woman has one conviction on her criminal record: driving under the influence. Because she can’t remember anything about the stab incident, there is no treatment advice. According to the woman’s lawyer, others may also have stabbed. The back door of the house was open, another can have been stocked unnoticed.
The woman was also too drunk for the many actions performed. “Picking up the knives from the kitchen alone and putting it in the dishwasher was too big a tour for her,” he outlined. The counsel also does not rule out that the man has injured himself. He argued for acquittal. Moreover, in this case a long prison sentence will harm more than good, the lawyer believes.
The court will rule in two weeks.
