With the campaign, cat owners get a voucher for a pet shop if they let their cat castrate, sterilize and chip. Last year 143 stray cats were treated in Roeselare, but domestic cats must also receive that treatment. The campaign receives the support of animal rights organization GAIA, which Roeselare named last year as the most animal -friendly municipality.
Ships Matthijs Samyn: “With this action we not only want to help control the cat population, but also take care of the animals that live in our city. Through this effort we hope to improve the situation for both the domestic cats and stray cats. ”
