Before its Champions League game at Norwegian handball champion Elverum, THW Kiel complained about further corona failures. Goalkeeper Dario Quenstedt and assistant coach Christian Sprenger have been infected with Corona, the club announced.
Both have gone into isolation. In it are still head coach Filip Jicha and defender Hendrik Pekeler.
THW junior coordinator Klaus-Dieter Petersen steps in as a substitute coach. “It is clear that I will help in this situation,” said Petersen, who has all the necessary national and international licenses.
The goalkeeper team now consists of the recently recovered Niklas Landin and U23 keeper Philip Saggau. The game will kick off on Thursday (6:45 p.m. / DAZN).
