Metropolitan Court arrests two members of REvil hacker group

The Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested two young people for two months, who are suspected of involvement in the REvil hacker group. On Friday they were detained in the capital by FSB officers.

Andrei Bessonov and Roman Muromsky appeared before the court. Young people are suspected of participating in embezzlement and extortion of money from foreign IT companies using virus programs. The damage from the activities of cybercriminals is estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.

The basis for the search for intruders in Russia was the appeal of the competent US authorities. The joint operation of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia to detain hackers was carried out in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Leningrad and Lipetsk regions.

426 million rubles were seized from 14 REvil participants, including in cryptocurrency, $600 thousand, 500 thousand euros, as well as computer equipment, crypto wallets and 20 premium cars. The investigation is ongoing.
