A direct clash between Russia and NATO over Ukraine would be the most dramatic and catastrophic outcome of the conflict, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, said in an interview with Russian media.
“That would be the most dramatic, just catastrophic scenario. And I just hope that this never happens, ”he answered the question about the possibility of a direct clash between Russia and NATO, if Kiev decides to subjugate the Donbass by force (quoted from “RIA News”.).
Medvedev said that everything must be done to avoid clashes with NATO
According to him, “certain lunatics” and “certain hotheads in the NATO countries and in the United States of America” are discussing this topic.
Medvedev has already called the war a terrible event and stressed that Russia is not looking for an armed clash. He called negotiations on security guarantees the only way to resolve the situation and called for everything possible to prevent conflict.
