“Medium catastrophe” – Viktoria Berlin is still looking for the “flow”

The footballers from Viktoria Berlin, who are plagued by the corona virus, are only slowly gaining momentum. “As for the last four weeks, it’s like a medium-sized catastrophe. We had no preparation and were only able to train three or four times as a team,” said coach Muzzicato.

On Saturday (2 p.m.) his team has to play at Waldhof Mannheim. The promoted team has had to cancel three games so far and will only be able to travel to the encounter in Baden-Württemberg with a decimated squad.

Due to the four newcomers, Viktoria can probably muster 14 professionals and two goalkeepers. The squad will be filled with players from the U-19. There is still a question mark behind goalkeeper Julian Krahl, who can only test free on Thursday. In addition, some players who have tested themselves are not yet ready to play.

Muzzicato also doesn’t want to burn the newcomers straight away, but use them in doses. Brooklyn Ezeh, who joined Viktoria from Schalke 04 II in the winter, was already ready to play. The 20-year-old left-back scored 1-0 on Wednesday evening in a clear 6-0 win in the state cup at Berlin division club TSV Rudow. Striker Lucas Falcao scored four times.

“We haven’t had the opportunity to train with the new players so far. So the cup game was also a good dress rehearsal,” said Muzzicato, who wants to use the game in Mannheim to “put a few youngsters on the track. Mannheim is not our level anyway.”

But the game is not given away. The 43-year-old hopes that the complicated situation will bring the team closer together and pool their strengths. “I’m in good spirits. But it takes a few games to get into the flow and have the players integrated,” Muzzicato said.

Even this situation does not keep the Italian-German from his goal: “I want to win every game.”
