Martine Sandifort has put a line through her theater tour Namastetjes, with which she would be on the shelves this season. The comedienne is struggling with depression, she reports on social media.

‘I am very sorry to inform you that, due to illness, I am forced to cancel my theater tour this further season. In this current cancel culture, I could of course easily hide behind a ‘force majeure due to corona’ reason, but that doesn’t feel clean to me,” explains Sandifort.

‘After my premiere in November, there was a lockdown. I was already exhausted for a while, so the lockdown didn’t suit me that bad to be honest. By suddenly not playing anymore, it soon became clear that I was really not doing well. Among other things, hardly sleeping or not sleeping at all for at least six months and a lot of stress has unfortunately led to depression.’

I hope I can serve you in a better mood soon

Martine Sandifort

Sandifort finds it annoying that she has to disappoint all ticket buyers. She wants her performance Namastetjes now play in next season. “I hope I can serve you some nonsense again soon in a better mood.”

Finally, she addresses people in similar situations: ‘I also want to encourage other people who are now struggling with psychological problems with this message. You are not alone. This will pass again. Be kind to yourself if you can. I think of you.’
