Martijn Krabbé expresses his dissatisfaction with the fact that his boss Peter van der Vorst has still not ordered another season of Buying Without Watching. “Then it won’t happen.”
The Martijn Krabbé show Buying Without Watching is one of RTL 4’s biggest hits and it therefore stings the television maker that the channel lets it dangle like this. He wants certainty about a new season from channel boss Peter van der Vorst, but according to Martijn it is all very long in coming.
Compelling aunt
At the moment, the recording of the seventh season is in full swing, says Martijn in an item of RTL Boulevard. “We run all year round, don’t we? We are of course already working on series seven. This program simply has a dynamic agenda.”
It is not very easy to schedule the recordings of this program. It also takes a longer period of time, says Martijn. “Sometimes you think you have a few days off, then the phone rings and you have to drop everything. Buying Without Looking is a particularly compelling aunt.”
No series eight yet
Because of these production challenges, Martijn needs certainty about a new season quite early on. And that, he says, is now lacking. “Series eight has not yet been ordered, so if RTL is listening in: we will soon be installing a concession clock at your office at the management.”
Martijn’s patience seems to be running out somewhat, because it is not very common to publicly complain about the channel top. “The concession clock is counting down and if it is at zero and series eight has not yet been ordered, it will not take place!”
What does Aaron say?
Presenter Daan Nieber after the item at the Boulevard desk: “They are on the line right now, right, RTL? It just comes, doesn’t it?”
Aran: “Yes, it just comes. It’s a formality. The conversation has yet to take place, I think, but it will just happen. This is almost the biggest success of RTL at the moment, so Martijn can be assured that this will come. The offer is going to be high. I think RTL has to pay a lot. Naturally.”
