Man handcuffed on the street for breaking into the Amstelveen store

A man was arrested this evening around 8 p.m. after possibly trying to break into a tobacco and gambling store on Van der Hooplaan in Amstelveen. During the burglary, a security system released a lot of smoke. This is the umpteenth time that the Amstelveen neighborhood has been targeted by criminals.

It is not the first time that the neighborhood has been targeted by criminals. Last month, local residents were startled by a huge bang, then explosives went off at a supermarket across the street from the tobacconist. They sat up in their bed after they heard three huge bangs.

The owner of the tobacconist where the burglary took place decided a few months ago to have the cash machine in his facade removed for fear of such burglaries.
