Christiaan M. (43) stabbed a young employee of Domino’s Pizza in Veghel with a knife last summer. The boy suffered serious injuries to his forearm, all because of a piece of pizza that had fallen on the ground. Justice is done with repeat offender Christiaan M. from Veghel and demanded in the court in Den Bosch on Wednesday that he receive an ISD measure for 2 years, during which he will either be treated or be in jail.
It was an absurd situation at Domino’s Pizza on Bolkenplein in Veghel. On July 27, Christiaan M. came there to get a pizza. However, when leaving the case, half of them fell out of the box. When he found out outside, he got angry and went to get a story.
The place was full of employees and customers. M. didn’t even hear that he could get a new pizza and immediately started cursing, hitting and throwing pizza. An 18-year-old employee came from behind the counter and tried to calm him down, but was only partially successful.
Knife in his waistband
Christiaan M. went outside again, pulled a knife from his waistband and went back inside. The 18-year-old employee was there cleaning up the place. M. walked towards him with the knife. The boy parried the knife three times with his left forearm and suffered serious wounds.
M. went outside again, threw the knife away and was arrested by the police not much later. On the way to the station he insulted an officer so much that he also had to appear in court for it. ‘I’ll kill you’ and ‘dirty fagot’ are just a few of the shouts of the continuous stream of insults M. uttered in the police car.
How all this could happen became a bit clearer in court on Wednesday. Christiaan M. now knows the inside of the court. He has a criminal record of 23 pages and has been in jail before. Never for very long, but in recent years it has been for a week to three weeks several times.
The probation service has already tried all kinds of treatments with him, but nothing helps. And, a probation officer warned, things are going from bad to worse.
Shortly before the stabbing, Christiaan was still in a PAAZ department, but he was sent away again. And that, as it turned out, is always his story. No treatment works anywhere. Woenselse Poort, Groote Beek, NEOS Foundation, homeless shelter, GGD, he knocked everywhere, but nothing helped.
‘I’m not violent’
M. thought it wasn’t too bad. “I’m not violent,” he said. “I do regret this, because this has gotten very out of hand.” He mainly asked for help, such as EMDR therapy. Preferably not, as the justice department wants, while he is in custody. He occasionally talked in a confused and very detailed manner about how everything had not worked out in the past and how little chance he had had of a good life in his life.
The 18-year-old boy, who worked at Domino’s that day together with his brother and girlfriend, among others, is still scared. He suffered a serious mental blow and a large scar still reminds him of that absurd day in July. There are now also doubts about his dream job at Defense, because his left arm still does not function properly when exercising.
The public prosecutor appeared to be done with the laundry list of crimes committed by Christiaan M. and his aggression. He therefore demanded that M. now receive a so-called ISD measure, as the probation service also advises. Just right for systematic perpetrators: M. is then treated and if treatment does not work, he does not end up homeless on the street, but has to go back to his cell.
The verdict in this case is on November 15.
