MAN certified the bus for Russia

“Lions” from Europe will appear on the streets of Russian cities. The German company MAN certified in Russia electric bus MAN Lion’s City E. The German electric bus has a range of at least 200 kilometers on a single charge. Batteries of an electric bus with a charging power of 150 kW are charged in less than three hours.

MAN electric buses are already successfully sold throughout the EU, said Pavel Selev, commercial director of the Russian wholly owned subsidiary of the German company MAN Truck and Bus Rus.

The certificate opens up the possibility of selling electric buses, the possibility of operating electric buses at airports, on public roads and on urban public transport routes. First of all, the company stakes to Moscow and St. Petersburg, where the possibility of creating a network of charging stations in the historic city centers is limited.

MAN is part of the Traton Group brand portfolio, which is owned by Volkswagen. In 2020, sales of trucks over 6 tons fell by a quarter to 3,683 trucks. At the same time, sales of buses in Russia increased by 35.4%. In absolute terms, this is still not much – 134 buses. But now MAN is trying to enter the market of electric buses, which in Moscow now almost completely occupied by KamAZ.
