Man (32) from Kapellen arrested in Bolivia: images show how he attacks a hotel receptionist | Abroad

A man from Kapellen near Antwerp has been arrested in Bolivia after he attacked the receptionist of a hotel in the city of Santa Cruz. This is reported by local media.

The incident took place on Wednesday, near the Bimodal bus terminal in the city center. According to the local authorities, Tommy H. (32) would have wanted to pay with a bank card where there was no money. When the receptionist refused the card, the Belgian became aggressive.

Footage from hotel security cameras shows him getting angry at the woman and throwing something at her head. The receptionist then grabs a stick, with which she beats the man. The Belgian then rushes at her and tries to take the stick.

Angry

According to the receptionist, the Belgian would have shouted that he did have money when his card was refused. The man also allegedly threatened her with death. “He got angry because his card didn’t work,” she told the national television network Red UNO de Bolivia. “He got aggressive, stormed into my workspace and tried to knock me to the ground. He yelled at me that he had money”

The woman filed a complaint with the Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc). Colonel Edson Claure later stated that Tommy H. had been arrested and transferred to a police cell. He should make a statement there. He would have to appear in court later.

Tommy H. is on a motorcycle tour through South America. He posted on social media last weekend that he was on his way from Sucre to Santa Cruz on “one of the most fun roads he’s done so far”. “Lots of obstacles like rocks and drunk drivers, but still… I loved it.”

He previously visited Paraguay and his next destination was Peru.
