The winter transfer phase is underway and the German clubs are in the middle of it. Rumors and fixed changes from the world of football can be found here.
With the beginning of 2025, the transfer window opened in the Bundesliga and other European leagues. In Germany the transfer period ends on February 3rd. After that, players can still move abroad, provided the leagues there have a later transfer deadline.
Which clubs are most in need of reinforcements, what is FC Bayern doing and what is the situation at the top European clubs? These and many other questions will be answered this transfer winter. At t-online you can find an overview of the most important guesses and changes from Germany and the world.
Now things could happen quickly: As “Bild” reports, among others, Loris Karius has already completed the medical check at second division club Schalke 04 on Friday. The 31-year-old goalkeeper is supposed to replace Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, who is about to leave and wants to move to his former club Braunschweig.
Karius is currently without a club and most recently played for Newcastle United. From 2020 to 2021 he was under contract with Union Berlin.
The Swiss international Rubén Vargas is leaving FC Augsburg with immediate effect and moving to FC Sevilla. As the Bundesliga club announced, it was agreed not to disclose the transfer terms. The contract of the offensive player who was willing to leave would have expired in Augsburg this summer. He signed in Spain until the end of June 2029. There was recent speculation about a transfer fee of around three million euros.
Vargas moved from FC Luzern to Augsburg in 2019. Since then he has played 154 Bundesliga games and scored 20 goals. This season he appeared eight times in the Bundesliga, but did not contribute to a goal.
Eintracht Frankfurt may have to do without their sought-after striker Omar Marmoush in the future. As Sky reported on Thursday evening, the Egyptian had agreed with Manchester City club representatives about an immediate move. Frankfurt is informed of this, but the Bundesliga club is demanding a transfer fee in the region of 80 million euros. Now there must be negotiations between the clubs.
Marmoush scored 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga games and thus aroused interest. Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller emphasized on Thursday afternoon that there had been “no contact” with Man City. Therefore, “we don’t need to talk about it too much,” said the 44-year-old: “We would all like him to stay.”
If Marmoush leaves Eintracht, Sky national striker Niclas Füllkrug is a possible replacement. The attacker has yet to get going since joining West Ham United.
Borussia Dortmund striker Sébastien Haller is trying to get back into the swing of things with his former team FC Utrecht. BVB announced on Thursday that the 30-year-old will play for the Dutch first division club on loan until the end of the season. Dortmund and Spanish first division club CD Leganés had previously ended the Ivorian’s loan “amicably and early”.
“BVB wishes Sébastien Haller above all good health and, of course, a lot of working time and the greatest possible success in his new place of work,” the Dortmund team said in a statement. The change is “still subject to association legal processing”.
Haller had only played nine games for Leganés since the summer and didn’t score a goal. Now a return to the roots should bring success. The striker played for Utrecht from 2015 to 2017 and then moved to Eintracht Frankfurt.
