Loiza Lamers was demolished by the men of VI Today because she looked back on the controversial transgender joke by René van der Gijp in a podcast. “She’s just attention sick!”
The Flemish reporter Bo van Spilbeeck showed enormous courage four years ago: she transformed into a woman in front of the entire nation. There was a lot of admiration, but there were also a lot of people who made this uncomfortable and made fun of it. René van der Gijp belonged to the latter camp.
Wig and lipstick
René sat down at the VI table, wearing a blond wig and lipstick, as a parody of Bo. Quite funny at first glance, but it is of course understandable that this can be hard for transgenders. They often struggle with themselves for years before they take the step to embark on an extensive and difficult transition process.
Holland’s Next Top Model winner Loiza Lamers, herself transgender, now looks back on this in a podcast. She indicates that since the transgender joke she can no longer look at the men of VI normally. Not so much because of the joke – she thinks anyone can make a slip – but mainly because of the way René defended himself afterwards.
Loiza slaughtered
When asked, Loiza indicates that she would be happy if René would still apologize four years later. Well, she can write that on her stomach. In fact: she was butchered yesterday at the talk show table of VI Today.
René sat quite frustrated at the table. “Well, frustrated? Problem

Attention sick

Johan: “Yeah, exactly, if you don’t know her, she’s on TV every day, because she’s attention-sick! I don’t know what that lady thinks about that. I’m not interested in that at all.”
Hunting season
Özcan Akyol takes sides for VI. “I think it’s about something else. There’s momentum now isn’t there? It’s kind of a hunting season that’s open, because anyone who’s done something wrong is now being hunted. Everyone now has to expose their buttocks. There is a new consciousness, a new moral compass and he said something, when was that?”
