Handball cup winner Rhein-Neckar Löwen keeps the international starting places in the Bundesliga in sight. Coach Sebastian Hinze’s team won their eighth win in their 15th league game with a 36:32 (19:15) win at HSV Hamburg and remains in sixth place.
The Danish world champion Niclas Kirkelökke scored the most goals with ten goals for the guests on Saturday in front of 6,741 spectators, who celebrated only their second away win of the season. On the HSV side, left winger Casper Mortensen (10) was the most successful in front of the opposing goal.
TVB Stuttgart had previously celebrated a valuable and somewhat surprising success in the fight to stay in the league. The Swabians overturned a half-time deficit of 32:28 (15:17) against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and, thanks to their fifth win of the season, climbed from the first non-relegation spot to 14th position.
“That was a very important victory when you look at the table. We are really happy to have won this game,” said Stuttgart national player Kai Häfner on the Dyn microphone.
