Ligabue – That’s how it went: Aldo Grasso’s review of the biography on Raiplay

LIGABUE – THAT WAS IT
Gender: Biography
Directed by Duccio Forzano. With Luciano Ligabue, Stefano Accorsi, Elisa, Francesco De Gregori. On RaiPlay

A life as a midfielder, of course, but also as an absolute protagonist of the last thirty years of Italian music. The human and artistic story of Ligabue deserved a story like the one made by RaiPlay (production Friends & Partners with Open Zoo): seven episodes like seven fragments of life, in turn divided into three short extracts for a total of twenty-one stages.

Ligabue – That’s how it went it is a journey through the life of the Emilian singer, from his beginnings to success; a race to chase the time lost to do other things in life before being able to devote himself full time to music (metalworker, accountant, footballer, city councilor “but for the beauty of only two sessions”), a career that finds momentum around thirty ‘years, lagging behind the average.

To accompany the “Liga” in its album of memories and to reconstruct the “dreams of rock ‘n’roll” that have come true there is Stefano Accorsi, in a recomposition of the association of Radiofreccia, which marks the path of the singer and the historical events of the period.

Ligabue’s life is like a provincial novel, the story of a disheveled boy from the Reggio countryside who ends up filling stadiums and consuming successes. There is no shortage of inserts (via zoom), from De Gregori to Gerry Scotti, and unpublished archive finds. To relive an important piece of Italian rock and discover the behind the scenes of success.
