A personal milestone for the Oasis frontman, which he celebrates with his fans completely sober.
Liam Gallagher has told the world he spent Christmas sober for the first time in decades. The 53-year-old musician, who was always on the verge of crashing, shared the news on his X account with and wrote: “First sober Christmas since I was 3, absolutely incredible.”
Many Oasis followers responded to the post, which is why Gallagher became a bit more explicit in the replies to it. He admitted that he simply replaced alcohol with water during the holidays. However, this was not the start of a general avoidance of wine, beer and other spirits.
“I don’t have a problem with alcohol, it doesn’t go that far,” clarified Gallagher. “I just don’t feel like it right now. Maybe I’ll drink again, maybe not.”
When asked why he had drunk so much alcohol in the past, the musician responded calmly – “I belong to the generation that always said to itself: ‘If you can’t beat this stuff, then at least enjoy it’.”

Otherwise, Gallagher would hardly have survived the last few months with numerous sold-out mega concerts. The tour, which began in Cardiff at the beginning of the year, also served as a way for him to focus on his health after long years of excess.
“Oasis saved my life, it’s time I got my head straight,” Liam Gallagher wrote in response to a fan on
Exceptions seem to be allowed, as he himself made clear. After Oasis’s Overall, the musician said, he enjoyed finally being sober. Even at Christmas.
