Lavrov spoke about the expansion of the CSTO

There is a possibility of expanding the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow. The press conference is broadcast by the media platform “Looking”.

The CSTO members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

The CSTO charter states that a country wishing to join the CSTO must apply to the organization with such a request, Lavrov noted.

CSTO member countries signed a protocol that amends the charter of the organization. Now partner countries and observer countries may appear in the CSTO, the minister explained.

There is interest from other countries in establishing contacts with the CSTO, Lavrov concluded.
