Lando Norris, who finished 3rd in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the 24th and last leg of the season in the Formula 1 World Championship, became the champion of the 2025 season.

The race, held at the 5.2-kilometer Yas Marina Circuit on Abu Dhabi Yas Island, was held over 58 laps.

Red Bull’s Dutch pilot Max Verstappen, who started from the “pole” position, took the eighth stage win of the season with a time of 1 hour, 26 minutes and 07.469 seconds.

McLaren’s Australian pilot Oscar Piastri came in second, 12.594 seconds behind the leader, and Great Britain’s Lando Norris from the same team came in third, 16.572 seconds behind Verstappen, who finished the race as the leader.

“I HAVEN’T CRIED IN A LONG TIME”

Making a statement after the race, Norris stated that he was very happy for the championship and said, “I haven’t cried in a long time. I never thought I would cry. It was a long journey. I want to thank my friends at McLaren and my mother and father who supported me from the very beginning.” he said.

Praising Norris Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, the 26-year-old athlete said, “Now I understand a little how Max Verstappen feels. I also want to congratulate Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, it was very enjoyable to race with both of them and learn something from both of them, but we did it. I am proud of everyone.” he said.

Reaching 423 points, 2 points ahead of Verstappen, Norris became the F1 World Champion for the first time and became the 35th pilot to reach the top of the sport.
