The Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Yevgeny Kuyvashev opposed the installation of a bas-relief of Joseph Stalin on the facade of the District Officers’ House in Yekaterinburg, informs local portal E1.ru.
“Let the installation of this bas-relief be on the conscience of those who installed it. Personally, I am against it, ”Kuyvashev said at a press conference.
He recalled that the building belongs to the Ministry of Defense.
“As much as I want, I can neither remove this bas-relief, nor order [снять его]”, – said the head of the region.
