Kuipers wants to offer young people aged 12 to 17 a booster | Inland

Although the Health Council sees no reason to give this age group a third shot, Kuipers wants to make it possible if the European medicines agency EMA also gives the green light, the corona minister wrote to the House of Representatives on Friday.

Young people risk getting into trouble with (school) trips because different countries demand a boost shot from them and confront them differently with a test obligation. Germany, Israel, France, Belgium and the US, among others, give young people in that age group a third shot.

“I am aware that there are some countries that make a boost vaccination mandatory for the validity of the European corona certificate, and that there are young people who can no longer use their vaccination certificate in these countries,” said Kuipers. This problem does not arise for many young people until May, as they have only received the second dose of their vaccine late. After the second injection, the European travel card is still valid for 9 months.
