Khusnullin urged to reduce the permissible level of alcohol in the blood of drivers – RBC

In Russia, the maximum permissible level of alcohol in the blood of drivers should be reduced, said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin during interview the newspaper “Vedomosti”.

“I believe that it is necessary to reduce the number of allowed blood alcohol percentages while driving. After all, there is a direct dependence of mortality and accidents on the amount per mille of alcohol in the blood, ”he said.

Khusnullin noted that those who drink a glass of beer rarely get into accidents, while drivers with one ppm of alcohol in their blood become “potential suicide bombers.” According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Commission on Road Safety, which he heads, did not reach a consensus on this issue.

“We have agreed as follows: we will calculate in the experimental regions what life will show,” he said, adding that if in these regions of the country a significant decrease in the number of injuries and deaths of people on the roads is revealed, the measure will be approved. “Statistics on the death of people in” drunken “road accidents are terrible figures,” the Deputy Prime Minister added.
