Kaiserslautern’s celebration of the Grammozis effect: “Shown again what makes the FCK special”

“After intensive days”

New coach, first success: 1. FC Kaiserslautern is very happy about reaching the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup and the successful debut of head coach Dimitrios Grammozis. His boss Thomas Hengen was enthusiastic about the cup evening on the Betzenberg and explained to an audience of millions on “ARD”: “That was a huge fight. It was a great collective performance.”

The signing of Grammozis as the successor to the recently unsuccessful Dirk Schuster paid off in the first game. “I think we showed more today what FCK is all about,” said goalscorer Ragnar Ache. The Palatinate team hadn’t won a game throughout November and lost 4-1 against Magdeburg on Saturday. The 2-0 win in the atmospheric traditional club duel against 1. FC Nürnberg not only brings the Palatinate team additional money and new courage, but also opens the door to the DFB Cup – possibly to the final on May 25th in Berlin.

“Big compliments to the players because the last few weeks haven’t been easy, but they played a good game. I’m very happy that we did it,” said Grammozis, who was only introduced as the new coach on Sunday. The two and a half days leading up to the cup round of 16 were correspondingly hectic. “They were intensive days for me because we had to organize a lot of things. We had to create a structure and think about how we could use these one or two days,” he continued. Now there is until Saturday (1:00 p.m.) until the league against Hertha BSC.
