Before the National League game against Portugal, national coach Nagelsmann gave the TV viewers an insight into his youth. This was not just two ex-international.

Despite his excellent reputation as a football coach, Julian Nagelsmann only won a really big title: the German 2022 championship with Bayern Munich. With the German national team, he is currently preparing to have another reasonably prestigious title followed – the Nations League.

Before the semi-final game in Munich against Portugal, ZDF moderator Jochen Breyer therefore asked the national coach for the importance of corresponding trophies. “What is the greatest thing you have won in your life so far?”, The journalist formulated – and pushed after: “It doesn’t have to be a title now. It can also have been a painting competition at school.”

The national coach then did not consider long and his reply led him back to his own school days. “I actually won a competition for a German attachment,” said Nagelsmann and specified: “We had to write about a part of the body of us. And I wrote about my popo that doesn’t feel so good after sport.”

Both the experts present by Mertesacker, Christoph Kramer and Fritzy Kromp and moderator Breyer then looked at a loss. Therefore, the national coach added: “I won a prize, and I actually don’t understand that to this day. But it is now very spontaneous – I don’t know whether this is the most beautiful now.”

After Breyer once again had to do what the price was all about, Nagelsmann explained: “We had to write about some part of the body how it feels in everyday school life. And I chose my butt after physical education.”

The moderator, which was still somewhat unbelievable after this unexpected anecdote, then came back to the actual occasion of the conversation – the semi -finals of the Nations League against Portugal and wanted to know what the title would mean in the competition for Nagelsmann.

“We all find it very important because we also have to develop an understanding of winning titles,” replied Nagelsmann. Of course, the Nations League is not as important as World Champion or European Championships, but “it is a title that would do us very well.” The only question would be the question of whether he would classify the National League title on the price of the German essay.
