Mikkelin Jukurit will face a familiar opponent in the next round.

Patrik Puistola (20) scored Jukurei’s opening goal. Michal Kovarcik congratulating, PDO

Playing in the hockey Champions League for the first time, Mikkelin Jukurit scored a big hit when it won the opening round of the playoffs with a combined score of 3–2 over Switzerland’s Fribourg-Gottéron.

Mikkeli went to cuckoo clock land with a 1-1 draw. The same ties also stood after the game played in Switzerland, so superiority was decided in a harsh way: three against three overtime.

The Lion Guard Frans Tuohimaa made big saves with Jukuriden’s goal, until the field player of Heimos Jarkko Immonen decided to put the game in a package. Scored a goal in the second period Patrik Puistola passed to Immonen at the back post, and the 2011 Golden Lion could not make a mistake with the serve.

Tuohimaa, who blocked a total of 32 bets, was awarded as the best player of the evening.

Immonen’s goal takes Jukurit next to Luulaja, the silver team of the Swedish league last season. The teams met twice already in the early autumn group stage. The Swedish team won both meetings.
