After the defeat with Benfica near Chelsea, the “Special One” gets his favorite pastries in a touching scene. He thanks in his own way.

The return to his former place of work was initially bitter for José Mourinho. With Benfica Lisbon, the Portuguese lost 0-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday evening at Chelsea FC. But for Mourinho, the evening at the Stamford Bridge not only ended with a defeat, but also with an unexpectedly familiar moment.

“Where are my cookies?” Asked Mourinho twice when entering the press room – and promptly received an answer. Brian Pullman, long-time employee of the club, had made some of his favorite cookies to the former Chelsea coach: “Custard Creams”, double cookies with vanilla filling.

Pullman, who worked for the club for around 55 years by 2024, was warmly welcomed by Mourinho. The trainer hugged him, kissed him on his forehead and reached directly. One of the biscuits at Mourinho immediately ate another after the press conference. He took the rest of the pastries – after another hug.

During his first term in the blues between 2004 and 2007, Mourinho had developed a preference for the “best cookies in London”. Even when he returned with Inter Milan in 2010, he had tasted some of them before a media appointment.

The 61-year-old was also greeted in a friendly manner away from the cookies. The Chelsea fans sang his name several times. Mourinho was touched. Chelsea “belongs to my story – and I was his,” he said, adding, he hoped to return with his grandchildren in 20 years.
