On February 2, Johnson had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This happened a couple of days after Johnson’s visit to Kiev, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Johnson expressed support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and in talks with Putin threatened sanctions if Ukraine was attacked.

French President Emmanuel Macron visited Moscow last week. The parties shared the opinion that the situation in the east of Ukraine should be resolved peacefully on the basis of the “Minsk agreements”.
