Johan Derksen always stands up for older TV men who misbehave, but why? Does he also have a hand in it? “He started screaming terribly backstage.”
Political reporter Sam Hagens is now a seasoned Today Inside guest, but during his first appearances in the program he was still a rookie and things were not exactly made easy for him. Johan Derksen in particular was able to go all out behind the scenes, he says in the column In The Walkways.
Totally crazy
Sam feels safe in the TV world at the moment, he indicates. “I feel very safe. I have sometimes had problems with Johan… I sometimes had a bit of a problem with Johan in the beginning.”
He continues: “He once spoke to me about it behind the scenes and he also had a good rant, but it is also about how it comes across to someone. In the end, I thought it was more of a nice story for birthdays that the great Johan Derksen went all out.”
Johan shouts
Johan shouted really loudly at Sam. The reporter puts on a loud voice and imitates Johan: “If it were up to me, you would never have come back after the first episode!”
Sam doesn’t mind. “I can only laugh about it. Three years later I’m still here! Hahahaha. So I don’t experience that as transgressive at all. He was also right, because sometimes I was interrupting too fiercely or too often. Too eager. You have that with almost everyone who comes here for the first time.”
